This is essentially the Law of Large Numbers at work… averaging out random bias, you get a precise answer. However, if systematic bias exists (i.e. professors tend to allocate students with x characteristic higher grades and with y characteristic lower grades), then this doesn’t work anymore… fortunately, AI algorithms are currently in the works to try to solve this problem, too.
